Basic Duties:
An Shift manager/ Key holder you are maintaining the highest level of customer service to our Neighbors. In addition, you are responsible for the various tasks involved in the overall operation of the store including but not limited to: supervising team members, assisting in managing daily tasks, Managing inventory, merchandising, and loss/shrink prevention, helping customers etc.
As Assistant Team Leader, you’re pawsitively passionate about people and their pets. Providing exceptional, neighborly service at every opportunity during your work day, you will
- Lead your store team by example – including, but definitely not limited to, being the first one on the floor to play with a neighbor’s new puppy.
- Recognize the director of your local cat shelter at the register and volunteer to host the next adoption event.
- Analyze your store sales results and develop plans to maximize sales, neighbor engagement and productivity, and then inspire your team to help you attain those goals.
- Create a fun, positive environment for your team and your neighbors; and a reputation for neighborly, knowledgeable, trustworthy and petcentric service in your neighborhood.

Principal Responsibilities:
- Ensure that each PSP neighbor receives outstanding customer service by providing a neighbor friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every neighbor and their pet.
- Maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service.
- Adhering to operational policies and procedures (cleanliness, animal care, safety and security) that ensure exceptional service is provided to our neighbors.
- Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and advertisements.
- Assist in ensuring appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise presentations, signage, and assortment in all departments.
- Ensure the sales floor is adequately stocked.
- Achieving strong store audit and neighbor engagement scores which promote our brand.
- Using broad business knowledge to affect store results, including sales, loyalty program memberships, and neighbor engagement, while operating within budget.
- Maintaining a fully staffed team and leading recruiting and onboarding for all levels in the store.
- Ensuring weekly work schedules are created to maximize engagement and productivity.
- Connecting with community organizations to partner on events and marketing opportunities.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Requirements:
- 2+ years leading retail teams preferably in a pet environment.
- Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store weighing up to 50lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to bend and kneel as needed to stock shelves.
- Ability to operate all store equipment necessary to run the store, including a forklift.
- Microsoft Office knowledge is a must with the ability to process information through computer system and POS register system.
- Ability to communicate with neighbors and associates.
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
- Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock room, and register area.
- Be able to work flexible schedules, have reliable transportation and must pass the drug, background and validated selection test, and be 18 years or older.
