Position Overview
American Transportation Systems is looking for a FULL CHARGE BOOKKEEPER who will have primary responsibility over the day-to-day accounting. This is a hands-on role who will work the Management Team on many business and accounting initiatives. This is an exceptionally fast paced company and work environment. The successful candidate will be someone who can roll up their sleeves, manage multiple priorities while being accurate with processing various accounting related transactions including payroll, A/R, A/P, and reconciliation. These responsibilities may include in-house accounting as well as accounting for affiliate corporations to provide them with bookkeeping services. The position is a 100% in-house position based in Long Beach (close to Lakewood).
Job Summary and Responsibilities
- Perform various accounting functions including the processing of vendor invoices (AP), ensure timely payment of invoices, Billing and Cash Application
- Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
- Verify, classify, calculate, post, and record accounts payable data
- Implement and follow various processes, policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, compliance, and effectiveness of various financial and operational controls
- Assist and/or manage payroll related functions
- Conduct ongoing internal audits of expenditures, billings, assets and liabilities
- Ensure the company complies with tax laws and regulations specific to our industry and ensure all city, county and other business registrations are renewed timely and accurately
- Assist with special projects and help drive various business initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years with proven operational accounting, analysis, and compliance experience
- Experience with Quickbooks Online and proficient use of Excel / Google Sheets
- Detail-oriented and with excellent organizational skills
- Analyze problems, present facts, make recommendations, and implement solutions
