We are seeking the world's most amazing special education teacher for the 2023-24 school year.

Becoming a great special education teacher takes continuous practice and a commitment to personal growth in tandem with a school culture that truly embraces a growth-for-all mindset. To facilitate this, BA teachers will receive real-time coaching and participate in meaningful weekly feedback and observation sessions with trained instructional coaches.
Our Model:
- BA operates on a modified year-round academic calendar and will serve grades K – 8 for the 2024-25 school year. We'll add a grade each subsequent year until we are K – 12 in 2028.
- We have two classes per grade level, with a max of 20 scholars per class
- We place strong emphasis on social-emotional learning
- We value rigor and exceptionally high expectations in addition to differentiated support to meet the needs of all scholars
- We believe in providing instruction in the absolutely Least Restrictive Environment possible in order for our students with IEPs to be successful.

- Embody Butler Academy’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Embrace the creation/ provision of modifications/ accommodations for students with IEPs to our school wide- adopted curriculum in collaboration with general education teachers.
- Provide engaging, differentiated, appropriately paced, and rigorous instruction in small group, and individual settings as determined by student need and IEP requirements.
- Establish and maintain a culture of growth and achievement in your work with all students, ensuring compliance with federal, state and school-mandated special education procedures.
- Lead SEL-based Morning Meetings with your scholars each day.
- Uphold school-wide and class policies, rules and consequences at all times.
- Analyze student achievement data with colleagues, instructional coaches, and leadership team members to strategically respond to the learning needs of your scholars.
- Use data and build strong working relationships with classroom teachers to inform best practice for instructional development and delivery.
- Communicate and collaborate with families regarding the social and emotional well-being and academic/ IEP progress of each scholar.
- Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in professional development and learning activities.
- Use feedback to make productive changes in performance.
- Be accountable for student mastery of IEP goals and objectives.
- Participate in school activities and school-related community events throughout the year.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree (conferred by July 1)
- SC Special Education Teacher certification (or transferrable certification from another state), preferably Multi-Categorical.
- An enthusiastic approach towards weekly coaching and feedback conversations
- A strong belief that all students can succeed
- An ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- A commitment to constant professional growth and development
- Preference: experience and demonstrated success working with underserved students with disabilities
- Additional preference: applicants who include a cover letter describing why they're a good fit for our school
Compensation and Benefits:
