Ranch Hope is currently recruiting Substitutes for the Strang School in Alloway.
Applicants must have a a substitute teacher certificate which requires a minimum of 60 college credits or a Paraprofessional Praxis. Experience working with adolescents that require trauma informed care is preferred but not required. This position includes a 6 1/2 hour work day and school calendar schedule. Additional shifts are available but not required during Extended School Year.
Ranch Hope is a non-profit Residential Treatment Center with locations in Salem and Gloucester Counties. Since 1964 our mission has been to transform lives through Christ-centered love and compassion while providing residential treatment, shelter, camp, special education and independent living services to youth from throughout the state of New Jersey. As part of our team you will learn about how trauma impacts the brain and will use new knowledge to assist youth in successfully meeting their academic and treatment goals. Using the Nurtured Heart Approach you will play a key role in helping each unique youth identify their greatness!
A Substitute Teacher:
· Uses a trauma informed approach when assisting students
· Aids classroom students with academic comprehension
· Assists treatment team in meeting behavior goals
· Keeps students in line of sight and hearing at all times
· Supervises students during lunch and recess
. Shadows out of program students
· Attends students during lavatory breaks
· Keeps assigned student's space educational space neat, clean and orderly
· Has full knowledge of school policies and procedures
· Maintains timely records and reports regarding the students under their care
· De-escalates crisis situations
· Performs restraints as needed if a youth becomes a danger to self or others
