New Freedom’s Therapist (Behavioral Health Professional) performs a variety of therapeutic services to provide psychological care to members/clients receiving treatment. This treatment includes a focus on various behavioral challenges such as substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, post incarceration syndrome, and co-occurring behavioral health needs. This position works collaboratively with all members of the treatment team including the member and family in conjunction with the team Case Manager and Certified Peer Support Specialists. The level of care for the program is Intensive Outpatient Services, with specific curriculum and program design.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Observe clients, listen to their concerns, record their observations and report to mental health professionals about any unusual behavior(s).
- Develop and implement service plans.
- Provide quality care for clients on an outpatient basis.
- Assess a client’s changes in mood, and determine whether it is positive, negative, or potentially dangerous and take steps to modify the client's actions or alert the supervisory team.
- Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery using one-to-one and group sessions.
- Support clients in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports, and resources to aid them in achieving those goals.
- Assist clients in working with their Case Manager or Treatment Team in determining the steps needed to achieve the goals and self-directed recovery.
- Assist clients in setting up and sustaining self-help (mutual support) groups, as well as means of locating and joining existing groups.
- Use ongoing individual and group sessions to teach members how to re-enter from incarceration, using appropriate clinical modalities like motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, etc.
- Assist members in building social skills in the community that will enhance job acquisition and tenure.
- Maintain safety for staff and members, including effective securing of documents and files.
- Work with other Treatment Team members to plan, market, and implement new programs.
- Facilitate three (3)-hour group(s) five (5) days a week with pre-determined curriculum.
- Complete monthly individual counseling sessions with members of assigned caseload.
- Complete staffing meetings with Treatment Team.
- Complete all necessary and required documentation within 24 hours of service(s) provided.
- Key Performance Indicator (KPI) - Client engagement expectation is a minimum of 1500 minutes of services/productivity per week of scheduled workdays.
- In addition, all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Behavioral Health preferred and 2 years’ experience in Behavioral Health required
- Associate Licensed Professional: LAC, LMSW, LASAC required or receive licensure within 6 months of hire
- Independent Licensed Professional: LPC, LCSW, LISAC preferred
- Computer skills – KIPU and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) to write/update notes and generate reports
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Punctuality, versatility, flexibility, and an ongoing willingness and enthusiasm to work within constantly changing priorities
- CPR/FA/AED/CPI Certifications, as required
- Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check
- Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Successful clearance of annual TB PPD testing
