POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Assists in maintaining, repairing, and monitoring all facets of the irrigation system including pumps, piping, valves, heads, PRV’s, and suction screens; and performs related work as required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Performs technical tasks and manual labor involved in maintaining and repairing golf course irrigation systems.
· Hand waters golf course as directed by supervisors.
· Operating and maintaining pumping equipment.
· Reading water flow meters.
· Repairing broken pipes and swing joints.
· Performing preventive maintenance on Cla-valves, PRV screens (including pressure settings).
· Changing head spacing for more effective water distribution.
· Raises or lowers irrigation heads as required.
· Monitors and resets angles of sprinklers based on turf requirements.
· Maintains drainage systems and equipment.
· Must demonstrate a positive attitude at all times
· Must provide outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers
Working Conditions
· Occasional lifting up to 80 pounds; also requires working in trenches to repair pipes in uncomfortable positions and confined spaces.
· Must adapt to extremes of temperature and inclement weather from outdoor working environment.
· Must tolerate handling of native plant material.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
· High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
· Must have working knowledge of basic electricity and irrigation systems including automatic valves and control systems and various types of pumps and pumping equipment; should be familiar with basic irrigation concepts such as head spacing, pressure and nozzling and their effect on water application uniformity; and possesses an ability to maintain good employee and public relations.
· Preferably 1 year in golf course maintenance and familiarity with basic irrigation practices.
· Good verbal and social skills, good listening skills, able to make a sensible decision and willing to accept responsibility.
· Must be able to exercise the utmost in discretion when interacting with members.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
