RN Job Summary at Nexstep Medical Detox
At Nexstep Medical Detox, registered nurses have the opportunity to provide quality, effective and safe care for clients with substance abuse disorders during their detoxification. Substances of abuse may include alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines or any other legal or illicit substance with the potential to produce tolerance, dependency, physiological and psychological withdrawal symptoms when the abuser ceases use. Registered nurses at Nexstep function within the scope of their license as defined by the Utah Nurse Practice Act.
Primary Job Responsibilities
1. Carry out comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of clients on admission and during the course of care using a theoretical framework in the process of assessment, data analysis, and nursing diagnosis formulation.
2. Complete daily patient nursing assessments, medication administration, and appropriate documentation through shift notes in the EMR system.
3. Answer and direct incoming phone calls into and inside of the facility.
4. Work with insurance agencies through phone calls and document submission to provide patient information for pre-authorizations and other patient-related inquiries.
5. Attend regular trainings and meetings to sharpen and improve nursing skills and assessment capabilities for improved patient care.
5. Manage and provide clinical support and supervision in accordance with good nursing practice to other staff personnel, including, but not limited to, client-care technicians and transport staff.
6. Ensure demonstration of a satisfactory knowledge base for safe nursing practices, and act to promote and maintain these said practices.
7. Follows the direction of the clinical director, medical director and program director to ensure the facility functions in accordance with relevant state, department of health and nursing legislation, and fulfill the duty of care in the course of practice and intervention when policies or practices may impede care.
8. Work within scope of practice and competence as defined by the Utah Nurse Practice Act, and consult with the clinical director and medical director if any problems fall outside that scope.
9. Ensure compliance with state and health department requirements to ensure consistent, safe delivery of service and maintenance of quality standards.
