The Applications Specialist’s primary responsibility is to assist in building, testing, and support of the electronic health record (EHR) and other clinical applications. This position is an integral figure in implementing, maintaining, and supporting the software applications that Mountain Park Health Center uses and contributes to the successful adoption of the system. This person works as a secondary resource to the training team to improve training, usage, and administration of the systems. This position will be embedded in the clinic environment to ensure real-time analysis of all clinical applications.
Essential Functions
- Receive and address EHR and other clinical applications support issues at multiple clinic sites in various ways (i.e., in person, phone, email, or Teams).
- Active participation on implementation teams, including practice assessment, workflow analysis, application and interface/data exchange testing, go-live preparations and support, and problem resolution.
- Keep appropriate records and documents for all clinical applications building and testing.
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of existing software applications.
- Accurately document and appropriately escalate any observed testing failures.
- Formulate teaching outlines and determines instructional methods for all roles (i.e., individual training, group training, lectures, conferences, workshops).
- Collaborate with all necessary internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Act as a change agent to promote adoption of new processes and technologies to support best clinical practices.
- Assess complex situations, seek collaborative solutions, and prepare and present recommendations.
- Synthesize knowledge of clinical/billing information systems and clinical/billing practice workflow processes to collaboratively plan and carry out implementation activities.
- Analyze cross departmental impact of individual user or department level system/workflow change requests and work effectively with customer stakeholders to manage competing or conflicting requests and needs.
- Perform root-cause analysis, develop logical conclusions, and suggest appropriate workarounds at the elbow or virtually.
- Develop and maintain a high level of product and business knowledge for all roles.
- Travels to clinics, as needed, to deliver required training presentations.
- This position requires consistent, in-person attendance at the employee’s assigned location. However, based on the employee’s performance and the specific task the employee is accomplishing, limited remote work may be permissible.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Nursing, Business or Computer/Information Sciences or Clinical experience with 5 years of electronic health records experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with training and support of EHR applications
