Job Overview
The Professional Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating professional development programming and initiatives. This role will also take part in the broader planning and execution of the firmwide training curriculum, New Associate Academy, practice group specific programming, and coaching. The Professional Development and CLE Coordinator will also work with the Professional Development and CLE Manager to support the firm’s CLE function.
This role is a hybrid working arrangement. Potential candidates must live within commuting distance of one of our offices (Houston, Philadelphia, or Washington, D.C.) to be onsite 3 days per week. In this role, you will report to the Professional Development and CLE Manager.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate and administratively support logistics for attorney and business professional training programs.
- Assist in the planning efforts of the firm’s experiential programming, including Trial Academy, Trial Accelerator, Negotiation Workshops, etc.
- Coordinate the collection of feedback from associates regarding the effectiveness of firm training programs.
- Upload training and content and ensure all professional development opportunities are added to the firm’s intranet.
- Coordinate legal writing and productivity coaching for associates.
- Work with department leadership to complete the professional development aspects of new hire and departure procedures.
- Research trends and best practices to stay abreast of innovative training programs and efforts.
- Work with the Professional Development and CLE Manager to manage the CLE accreditation of department, practice group, and client programs by communicating CLE requirements to speakers, assessing CLE eligibility, submitting applications for accreditation, maintaining program materials, and completing post-program follow-up as needed.
- Work with department leadership to track CLE compliance and licensure for all attorneys using viDesktop.
- Work with the Professional Development and CLE Manager to maintain accredited provider status in various jurisdictions.
- Work with the Professional Development and CLE Manager to manage individual attorney registrations, attorney bar registrations, bar association renewals, group bar renewals, IOLTA registrations, compliance periods for applicable jurisdictions and complete NY activity table.
- Assist with the annual recertification of NY CPE Sponsor status.
- Timely issue certificates of attendance to training attendees.
- Maintain CLE-related master documents and department spreadsheets.
- Manage the professional development inbox with assistance from the Professional Development and CLE Manager where needed.
- Book rooms, coordinate IT, and facilitate catering services as needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.

Skills/Qualifications
- 1+ years of professional development, training, CLE, or learning and development experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience in a law firm, legal services, or similarly fast-paced professional services environment preferred.
- Must be a self-starter with meticulous attention to detail, capability to issue-spot, and carry tasks through completion without prompting.
- Ability to track, balance, and meet competing deadlines.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop a positive rapport (in-person and virtually) with attorneys, administrative professionals, and external providers.
- Strong computer skills including proficient knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
- Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Unquestioned integrity and professionalism.
- Proficient in web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.
