ParksideTech is seeking a skilled Structured Network Cable Technician to join our team. As a Cable Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various types of communication and networking systems. Responsibilities:
- Install, configure and repair communication and networking systems, including CAT 5 & 6 network cable, Fiber Optic cable and Wireless Access Points (WAP).
- Organize and run cable into IT closets, cubical, desks, and other work area outlets.
- Cable runway installation (J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and ladder racks).
- Cable management (organizing, labeling).
- Cable Termination (Punchdown Patch Panel, Keystones, RJ-45/Modular Plug).
- IT Closet Builds (MDF, IDF, Data rack, ladder rack, cable tray, sleeve installation)
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing systems to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with connectivity, signal strength, and equipment malfunctions
- Collaborate with team members to complete installations and projects within designated timeframes
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards while working on job sites
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns in a professional manner
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Cable Technician or similar role and ability to install and terminate structured cable
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet, electrical work, and computer networking
- Familiarity with telecommunication systems and equipment
- Experience with field service work and using hand tools
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Should possess a flexible schedule as light travel may be necessary
- The successful candidate must currently possess the eligibility to work in the United States, a valid drivers license and be available to work on-site
- Physical Requirement: Must be able to work on a ladder and/or scissor lift. Work in confined spaces, can lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds. Ability to work on your feet for an entire shift
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in low voltage or related field
- Experience working with Cisco routers
