The Director is responsible for fostering an environment that allows children, their families, and the staff to develop to their full potential. The Director is accountable for program operation and will also review important decisions with the Executive Director and be responsive to the requirement of licensing or funding agencies.
Major functions
Ensure all staff implement DOE, DOH, NAEYC guidelines, MARC Academy's values, philosophies, and policies.
Evaluate classroom curriculum and environments. Develop action plans with classroom teaching team and monitor progress toward program goals.
Provide support and resources for staff on program development.
Recruit staff outreach to community, colleges, high schools, minority organizations and referral agencies etc. Oversee the process of screening, interviewing, and hiring teachers in collaboration with the Executive Director or Associate Executive Director.
Serve as the center/school resource for benefits, implement personnel policies, and monitor payroll processing.
Orient staff to MARC Academy's DOE Policy Handbook, Article 47 and school orientation resources/guide.
Develop key staff to share leadership roles in the center/school.
Utilize progressive counseling, document disciplinary action, and if necessary, separate staff in accordance with EEOC, federal, state, local and company guidelines
Ensure implementation of all staff duties as described in their job descriptions. Conduct regular observations, evaluations of performance in collaboration with Educational Coordinators including development and monitoring progress of individual goals for professional growth.
Support and sustain positive morale of the staff. Solicit input from staff and follow-up promptly. Ensure that team members communicate directly, work including to resolve conflicts, and avoid gossip.
Oversee ongoing staff/parent/guardian communication: daily communication, children's progress reports, and parent/guardian conferences.
Be available and accessible to parents/guardians every day, a nd respond to parent/guardian concerns.
