POSITION:
The Quality Coordinator will perform solutions to quality issues that frequently change from day to day. This position, as the hub of all process within the plant, will be executing opportunities coming from the office processes as well as any plant situations that may occur.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Quality Management System – Support the ISO 9001:2015 system by performing the directives associated with the ISO standard and the company’s procedures, work with process leaders to assure the instructions and procedures are up to date, perform Internal Audits of the processes and create audit reports, assist in performing the Management Reviews for the plant, provide status reports of QMS progresses.
- Customer Credits – Monitor credits, investigate root causes, provide disposition, contribute in analysis of credits, track pictures/samples of customer complaints, and work with Purchasing on complaints related to raw material issues.
- Corrective Actions – Maintain the CA log, respond to customer corrective actions, work with purchasing to issue SCARs to suppliers, issue internal CAs as needed, and verify CA effectiveness for completed actions.
- Statutory/Regulatory – Address regulatory requests from customers; monitor the revision status of multiple international regulations in the market, reach out to the mills for their regulatory documentation for our records.
- Sample Testing – Issue PO’s to the testing lab for testing needed, track and maintain the test reports and share with plant/sales/customer those test results.
- PPAPs – Gather all information for PPAPs, assemble the packets and forward to the proper personnel, log and track the completed ones, work with the customers/sales to get proper information needed.
- Calibration – Perform verification of calibrated inspection devices and keep record of them, purchase test devices as needed including batteries for the instruments, keep records of purchases and invoices.
- Customer Information – Address requests for quality documentation, file and log customer manuals and drawings, maintain the customer scorecards submitted, complete quality related surveys, and facilitate customer audits.
- Training – Provide training of quality related items including participation in lunch and learns monthly plant manger meetings, and periodic shift change meetings in production.
- Other duties as needed in support of other processes, company management and Quality Management System matters.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- 3+ years of Quality Management System experience. (ISO 9001:2015 minimum)
- Experience with Steel Service Center operations including understanding defects and process flow of material a plus
- Regulatory Specifications - RoHS, REACH, and California Prop 65, Conflict Minerals
- Project management including teamwork creation and application
- Knowledge of APQP methodologies (PPAP, FMEAs, Control Plans)
- Able to balance multiple projects and work well independently
- Must be able to read micrometers, calipers and conduct Rockwell verification/testing
- Familiarity with AS400 MRP platform a plus
- Excellent communications both verbal and documented
