KenCrest is hiring Direct Support Professional / Home Health Aides for a home in the Fort Washington, PA area.
The Direct Support Professional role isn't for everybody, but it is for those who enjoy a challenge and the reward that comes with it. Being in this role requires both attention to detail and creativity because you are serving as both a life coach and personal support agent.
Joining our team at KenCrest can be fulfilling if you enjoy advocating and helping people who have difficulty communicating for themselves. This role can be rewarding if you like creating activities and experiences for individuals to get to know others in the community.
This opportunity is for caring and energetic people who are determined to find ways to help people with intellectual or physical disabilities live more fulfilling lives.
Shifts Available Include: Day Shift, Evening Shift, Overnight
Rate: $15.00 p/h
Common Daily Tasks:
- Serve as both a caregiver and life coach to promote independence.
- Helping guide individuals with activities of daily living (some examples are personal care, meals, and medication, outings and shopping trips).
- Support the individual by helping with communication and self-expression.
- General housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.
- Be creative in helping the individual meet their own goals - look for fun activities or ways for them to participate in community activities.
- Complete required documents like incident reports, behavioral data, seizure charts, medical visit forms, etc.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record within the last 12 months, required.
- Clear criminal record, background checks and drug test in accordance with state requirements, required.
- Ability to convey, understand and follow spoken and written instructions in English, required.
- Strong Communication skills, required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, required.
- One (1) year of experience in supporting individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities, preferred.
