Overview
Reporting to the Field Operations Supervisor of Cowden Gravel and Ready-Mix, the Field Operations Coordinator oversees the company’s safety, environmental systems, and driver training as it applies to successful product manufacturing and delivery, project management, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
The Field Operations Coordinator is to provide support to employees in respect to plant and jobsite safety. This is conducted by providing onsite support for drivers as well as participating in project hazard assessments in partnership with the customer both prior to the job commencing and on an ongoing basis.
Driver Trainer/ Safety:
- Develop and facilitate a Driver Trainer program utilizing the designated Fleet Driver Trainer Maintain training records for all drivers
- Assist hiring managers with hiring, training and certifying both ready-mix and aggregate drivers focusing on safety, customer service and driver efficiency
- Coordinate with Maintenance Manager to ensure proper maintenance, repairs and care of trucks is maintained by all drivers with focus on safety and the longevity of equipment
- Facilitate Drug & Alcohol Testing in coordination with HRM; Pre-employment, Random, Post incident testing, Reasonable suspicion, RTW and follow-up testing as necessary
- Conduct and Review FMCSA Clearinghouse Driver Queries as part of new hire process and annual reviews
- Manage claims management; develop GRTW programs, monitor worker progress, submit appeals to L&I.
- Conduct accident, incident and injury investigation and reporting to health and safety department
- Focus on OSHA and MSHA compliance at the plants and job sites
- DOT safety compliance and supply ordering
- Execute corporate and division specific policies, and safety initiatives to improve overall safety performance
- Lytx drive cam coaching and action planning for drivers
- Provide a positive and encouraging environment for drivers to ask questions and to learn all standard operating procedures
Customer Care:
- Collaborate with customers regarding safe management of the site
- Conduct risk assessments and provide suggested controls for risks associated with acquired jobs
- Assist customers in problem solving site management issues – access, traffic management plans, signage, wash out areas, safe limits of approach, encroachment of excavations etc.
- Liaise with customer safety personnel and provide professional support if required
- Provide on-site supervision for drivers
Operations /Logistics:
- Follow up on discipline of drivers for safety and driving related incidents in coordination with Division Managers and Human Resources Manager
- Ensure maintenance of safety mechanisms on fleet and plant processes
- Assist to communicate operational learning’s to drivers
- Manage MVA reporting documents, and lead L&I claim disputes
- Manage the Division’s Contractor Management Program auditing procedures and process to ensure regulatory requirements are met
- Facilitate CSM program, coordinate orientations, record keeping, distribute discipline letters, audit contractor safety programs
- Evaluate safety features on trucks, trial new innovations, and provide feedback for management
Qualification Profile
Education and Work Experience:
- Degree or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- CDL holder and maintain CDL
- Minimum 5 years of industry related safety experience
- Demonstrate skills for MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
