Position: Director of Children's Services
Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000 Annually
Summary:
Block Institute is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Children's Services to serve as the administrator and supervisor of the Children's Services Department. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the department, ensuring the highest quality of services for children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and experience in administrative and supervisory roles.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Manage the Children's Services Department, including setting rates of pay and hours of operation.

Oversee the hiring, firing, promotion, discipline, and other employment decisions, giving particular weight to recommendations.

Monitor and ensure legal compliance in collaboration with Human Resources and legal counsel.

Administer day-to-day operations of Children's Services.

Supervise educational, medical, and clerical staff within the department.

Recruit and hire staff in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.

Formulate and supervise the implementation of Children's Services policies and procedures.

Monitor EI/CPSE/RSP/UPK billing, Day Care payments, purchase orders, and budget implementation in conjunction with the Finance Department.

Develop new, revised, and expanded program options.

Oversee staff training and professional development programs.

Supervise the maintenance of student records, tracking logs, and a computerized database.

Monitor classroom and related service provider schedules, caseloads, and IEP/IFSP compliance.

Oversee EI/CPSE/CSE evaluation and review processes; attend mediation meetings and impartial hearings as required.

Maintain compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations; stay current with new and revised regulatory requirements and best practices in the field.

Attend weekly team meetings as needed.

Represent the agency at Provider Association and other relevant outside agency meetings.

Participate in agency fundraising and special events.

Confer with other staff as required and plan/work collaboratively with staff and parents.

Attend mandatory in-service training and demonstrate compliance with all regulations and Block Institute policy and procedure requirements.

Learn and master the use of any software systems and technology utilized by the agency.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Ultimately responsible for the supervision of all educational, medical, and clerical employees of the Children's Services Department.
Qualifications:

SAS/SDA; SBL/SDL certification required.

Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of administrative and supervisory experience.

Minimum of 5 years of teaching and assessment experience.

Experience working with disabled preschool, EI, and school-age populations preferred.
