POSITION: Adult Education Student Advisor & Outreach
REPORTS TO: Director or Adult Education or Designee
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time, up to 28 hours a week
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid licensure with The Ohio Department of Education as a school counselor OR Licensed Professional Counselor OR Licensed Social Worker (Ohio LSW or LISW) is preferred
Minimum of five years full-time related work experience in counseling and working with students
Possess verifiable knowledge and experience working with community resources that will facilitate successful student participation in adult education program activities
Knowledge of student financial aid (PELL, TAA, WIOA, VA Grants, direct and alternative loans, etc.)
Ability to effectively assist with the recruiting and/or outreach of adult education servicesand programs throughout the county
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational and technology skills
Must pass a criminal background check
Hold a valid Ohio Driver’s License
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Counsels students and provides services that facilitates participation in adult education programs. Helps students identify goals and choose appropriate programs. Provides resources to students
when needed. In accordance with the Adult Education Handbook, monitors attendance and academic progress of students and provides counseling, resources and documentation for students who have attendance/academic issues. Oversees the Warren County Career Center’s Adult Diploma Program. Works with our Adult Education Staff as needed. Assists with job placement for students upon graduation. Develops and administers Adult Education quality evaluation student surveys on programs and services. Maintains survey results, provides trend analysis reports to the Director of Adult Education. Assists in the planning of outreach activities/events as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Oversees the planning, implementation, and delivery of a continuum of counseling,
enrollment, assessment and management of student records
? Serves as a liaison for colleges and universities for the purpose of developing partnerships,
articulation, dual, and concurrent enrollment agreements
? Complies with state and local agency regulations for preparing and maintaining program
accreditation, input and guidance
? Coordinates, manages and monitors the Adult Diploma Program in accordance with the
Ohio Department of Higher Education policies and procedures
? Assists with job placement services for students upon graduation, in collaboration with
program coordinators
? Develops and administers Adult Education quality evaluation surveys on programs and
services. Maintains survey results and provides trend analysis reports.
? Knowledgeable about financial assistance programs (e.g., Pell Grants, TAA, WIOA, VA,
grants, direct and alternative loans, payment agreements, etc.).
? Assists the adult education financial aid office with reports and services as requested
? Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time
? Keeps updated records and documentation in our student database
? Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines
? Assists with planning activities (e.g., programming, recruitment, scheduling, professional
development, support staff, equipment and room use, etc.)
? Assists with student recruitment and outreach activities. Develops motivational programs
to improve attendance, retention, and the successful matriculation of adult students
? Incorporates the effective use of available technology in instructional and records
management activities.
? Implements effective pupil management procedures. Maintains high standards for
student conduct. Upholds the student code of conduct.
? Follows guidelines in our AE Student Handbook, with respect to Attendance and
Academics
? Counsels students who have attendance and/or academic issues and follows guidelines for
attendance warning/probation periods when necessary.
? Maintains excellent communication with program coordinators and staff
? Maintains a current list of resources available for students
? Helps maintain a positive learning environment. Communicates high expectations for
faculty and shows an interest in student progress.
? Promotes teamwork. Collaborates with other staff members. Shares knowledge and
resources that enhance educational and administrative processes.
? Takes precautions to ensure safety. Immediately reports unauthorized persons or
suspicious circumstances.
? Assists with special projects as needed.
? Attends in-service, staff, departmental meetings, and school functions as directed.
? Keeps current with innovations related to assigned duties.
? Promotes a favorable image of the Warren County Career Center
Salary: $31.08/ hour
