Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, Florida is looking for a Supply Chain Management Generator Engineer
SUMMARY
Mitsubishi Power Americas, headquartered in Lake Mary Florida, is a major power generation equipment and storage solutions provider for the energy industry. Our New Generation Services (NGS) team are charged with the supply of “NEW” replacement and generating capacity across a number of different Gas and Steam Turbine Platforms. The Supply Chain Management – Cost Management Team is charged with the responsibility of sourcing equipment from across the Globe to support project execution in the Americas region.
To this end Mitsubishi Power is seeking to add a Supply Chain Management - Generator Engineer to our team. This position requires the use of initiative and independent judgment to support Supply Chain Management Execution initiatives and will work closely with many departments including, Global Sourcing, Supply Chain Project Managers, Project Management, Project Engineers, Engineers, Quality Control, Expediting, Estimations, and Comm-Ops to develop and execute domestic and international Power Project activities and fulfillment needs.
The successful Candidate will be responsible:
To Collaborate with Applications Engineering, Plant Engineering (As Required), and CommOps, Reporting to SCM- Cost Management and will work toward seamless and clean Purchase Order placement and turn over to the execution teams for the Generator and it’s auxiliary equipment.
This person will not be the Technical Lead but will assist the deal team and AE (Applications Engineering) as needed. The Supply Chain Management Generator Engineer will lead and or assist in the addressing of commercial SCM and project execution concerns or open items during the proposal phase as to facilitate a timely and clean PO placement. The SCMGE will support purchasing, manufacturing, execution and the warranty phase of each project as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Proposal Support:
- Review and analysis of RFPs related to generators and its auxiliary equipment
- Risk analysis review, identification, and contribution
- Open item tracking of:
- Each proposal, and open items related to issuance of the Purchase Order
- Customer-specific options or contract requirements, and associated costs
- Be aware of current status of the AE lead’s E&C and or Q&A logs
- Drives post Rev. 0 PO open Action items to closure (e.g., proposal options, scope shifts, warranty items)
- Tracking the supply of necessary generator documents to support project proposals within specified timelines
- Confirm MDL (master document list) for each proposal and project. Communicate with the deal team, for the actual project required Drawing Delivery days by Calendar Date, evaluate if early works agreements, or partial PO placement is required to meet drawing delivery schedules. Review, Incorporate and evaluate any reservations agreements, LNTPs associated to document delivery. Evaluate and include “float” time to allow for PO processing considering project leadtimes and execution strategy.
- Ensure timely sharing of draft Contracts related to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Consortium documents with Generator Supplier to allow for review prior to release for work. Ensure that all EPC Contract (Prime) and Consortium Contract requirements are included in MEPPI purchase order requirements.
- Verify activities performed and drawings prepared by MEPPI during following phases: “Reservation Agreement” “Early Release” “LNTP” “NTP” “PO”
- Early identification and communication of site-specific code requirements beyond Generator Supplier standard base, to ensure closure by the Final Notice to Proceed (FNTP or LNTP), push back to back language to gain compliance. If necessary, elevate misalignments to upper management so facilitate expeditious agreements and results.
- Assist or lead in the Definition of Grid Code by each country, region, and independent system operator, to make sure that Generator Supplier and the Contract are clear as to Grid Code definition and compliance by Generator Supplier
- Evaluate Equipment schedules based on forecast and project site need dates, documentation need dates to support
- Review of Purchase Order (PO) drafts prior to Official PO release.
Execution Support:
- Tracking and facilitation of the closure of open Proposal items if applicable.
- Provide commercial support to Project Management and Project Engineering during issue discovery, troubleshooting, and addressing change orders, liquidated damages (LD), mitigation strategies, or other cost-related topics during execution.
General:
- Ensure all parties are operating in alignment with any and all, signed agreements, and participate in any future revisions or development of such agreements.
- Involved and contribute to Cost reduction activities and data analysis.
- Assist with any Scope shift items, evaluate, transfer documents to suppliers, assist in evaluation, and any Q and A of 3rd party vendors, evaluate quality, preservation and packing of said 3rd party for viability of execution of the scope shifted item/s. Writes and distributes complex and technical bid invitations or requests for proposals; receives and analyzes bids, quotes, proposals, and awards the contract;
- Support Logistics evaluation for transportation
- Work with CommOps, AE, or other departments outside of SCM Cost Management in cost reduction activities, data mining, or other Generator related activities
- Partnerships and relationship building with Generator Supplier
- Create value through relationship management, supplier excellence and development projects to reduce cost and lead time and work with other Mitsubishi group companies to find cost savings opportunities. This includes evaluating strategies such as sole sourcing, e-sourcing events, auctions, cross commodity and cross business unit bundling, and tactics for increased competition.
- Cost tracking, data mining, evaluation and scrutiny of options proposals
- Drives for cost transparency.
- Takes on leadership role for trainees, new, or less experienced employees, directs the work of these subordinates within the supply chain group related to Generator topics
- Provide mentorship to junior level employees and interns as needed. Fosters positive relationship among team members and internal and external stakeholders and management.
- Assist in the Management of the Standard Design generator documentation and performance data
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned by leadership
- Approximate 10-15% Travel as required, may travel outside the country

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from accredited college with an MBA is preferred, will consider relative applicable experience (10) years of commercial experience; or, fifteen (15) years of buying experience with specialty in Commodities management; OR, Any equivalent combination.
- Five to Eight (5-8) years of direct procurement and/or Procurement fulfillment experience with some combination of procurement, contract management, commercial contract negotiation, supply chain management, expediting, proposal and/or bid management, engineering management experience.
- Proactive with a can-do attitude.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, engineering drawings, engineering specifications for material, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and basic database. SAP ERP exp. preferred.
- Management Skills: Ability manage and delegate tasks when necessary; provide mentorship to junior staff members; possess effective communicate skills to ensure job task, goals and objectives understood by the team and are successfully executed.
