Vocational Coach and Extracurricular Activities Coordinator
The Vocational Coach and Extracurricular Activities Coordinator will manage districtwide Afterschool programs including Special Olympics and the Aftercare Program, and work as a Vocational Coach in Essential PIECE Enterprises. The Vocational Coach and Extracurricular Activities Coordinator will work under direct supervision of the Director of Teacher Preparation and Parent Engagement
Candidates must be experienced with ABA strategies, and have experience conducting activities within school and after-school settings. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to be trained, and coached and be able to motivate staff. The Vocational Coach and Extracurricular Activities Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Campus Directors to achieve optimal results for students on the auti$24.50 to sm spectrum and related disorders.
Extracurricular Activity Duties:
- Plans, organizes, schedules, conducts, and directs recreation activities in a specialty program area such as sports, clubs, Special Olympics, special events, and performing arts for after-school hours.
- Prepares and distributes flyers, posters, and other advertisements for area programs.
- Performs on-site participant registration for recreational activities.
- Hires, trains, and supervises Special Olympics and Aftercare staff.
- Monitors and documents the daily attendance of students in the afterschool program.
- Communicates with parents regarding the afterschool program following AZACS guidelines.
- Leads and teaches a variety of on-site recreational activities.
- Maintains records and prepares reports, brochures, and informational materials relating to program assignments and financial and activity records.
- Monitor program budget, including tracking of costs and activity fees collected.
- Track and adhere to meeting deadlines and paperwork submissions, including registration forms and medical forms.
- Oversee any off-campus events and activities, including tournaments and competitions.
- Maintain and track uniform inventory
- Coordinate transportation requests with the Director of IT and Operations
- Coordinate any food requests with the School Nutrition Services Manager
- Coordinates with the Head of Schools for annual training of districtwide PE instructional staff with ACEing Autism, and providing required data
- Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
- Manage and track all Special Olympics and after-school program equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Vocational Coach Duties:
- Develop and formalize student vocational duties within the internship program to support the assigned campus
- Engage in one-on-one contact with students on campus to support daily and weekly vocational duties
- Provide one-on-one individualized support to the students to assist them in the development of vocational/employment skills (resume writing, job interviews, application completion, etc.).
- Work closely with the Director of Transition Services and staff to help them understand the value of support the AZACS student internships provide.
- Collect data regarding student performance.
- Assisting students to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals
- Developing effective job coaching and employment plans
- Communicating with students to understand their goals and ambitions
- Train students on interpersonal skills
- Serve to support behaviors on a day-to-day basis in the community as well as on campus
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
- Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
- Ability to communicate with parents, co-workers, and professional contacts in a courteous and professional manner and following AZACS guidelines
- Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
- Work schedule is year-round from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with occasional Saturday gameday hours for Special Olympics tournaments
Required:
- Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Coaches, monitors, and mentors support staff working with students with disabilities.

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
