Data Systems Specialist

Overview/Purpose:
The Student Information System Help Desk and State Test Coordinator is responsible for the day-to day monitoring of the Student Information System (SIS) and Testing helpdesk, which supports school level staff in Elementary schools. The work involves end user training for both large groups and one-on-one, technical support, systems administration and troubleshooting via phone, email, and online tools such as Go to Meeting and Zoom. This position interfaces with school level staff, vendors, and the Superintendent of Schools’ office personnel.
Reports to: Director of Data Information Systems and Data Management
Responsibilities:
- Provides support with core components of Admissions and Enrollment System (E.g. test A&E module as needed, review grade promotions).
- Monitors and maintains the helpdesk which supports the Student Information Systems (SIS) and the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center (LHRIC) coordination.
- Serves as a primary contact for Data Systems (E.g., A&E, SIS, StaffTrac, Clever, etc.).
- Assists with workshops and trainings.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves discrepancies in the Student Information System (SIS) that affect processes with the SIS and other systems (e.g., Clever).
- Serves as primary contact for the Student Information System, with a focus on data integrity between internal and external systems (Clever, Level 0, IRIS, etc.).
- Creates spreadsheets and performs analysis of schools for compliance with SIS data input.
- Reviews user support material written by the Director of Data Information Systems and Technology.
- Extracts demographic and enrollment files of Archdiocesan elementary school students and uploads them to the LHRIC data warehouse.
- Acts as the liaison between LHRIC and the Archdiocesan elementary schools to make sure all answer sheets and booklets are processed.
- Resolves NYSSIS Queue issues for students whose files are rejected.
- Supports with administration of NYSED assessments (E.g. Resolve NYSSIS queue issues, contact schools as needed to verify testing information).
- Maintains communication with the Director of Data Information Systems and Data Management.
- Completes other tasks and duties, as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- One (1) year of experience in applying technology training and support to user groups.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirement(s):
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Compensation range for this position is $27.47 – $35.37 per hour, equivalent to $50,000 – $64,375 per year.
This position is considered non-exempt and eligible for overtime.
