Job Description:
As our Director of Development and Operations, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to uncover resilience transform hearts and minds by overseeing, stewarding and growing the organization's fundraising efforts. By working closely with the leadership team and dynamic team of youth leaders and facilitators, you'll directly support in scaling our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program , and help support and foster the next generation of youth leaders.
Key Responsibilities 1: Development: (70%)
Manage the organization’s budget and fundraising strategies to secure funding and support for our core programs.
- Build and cultivate new relationships with individual/major donors, grant-making organizations, corporate sponsors, and stakeholders.
- Steward an existing database of donors, sponsors, and partners, and create a communication plan to regularly communicate with donors and staff via email, phone, or social media.
- Overseeing private and governmental pipelines, as well as grant management to ensure that (a) accurate, timely financial statements are prepared per grant requirements; and (b) grant applications reports and thank-you notes are prepared and submitted on a timely basis.
- Expand our fee-for-service model with Chicago Public Schools, to secure new contracts with new schools.
Key Resonposibilites 2: Operations: (30%)
- Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for development, finance, and program departments to ensure effective impact tracking.
- Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and databases.
- Work closely with founders and leadership team to ensure efficiencit follow-through between strategic plan and fundraising plan.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in fundraising, partnership development, communications, nonprofit, and/or client account management.
- Commitment to championing diversity: ideas, age, race, gender, and socio-economic background.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Operational leadership experience, including financial management, program development, and team supervision.
- Fundraising experience in a nonprofit or similar setting, with a proven track record of securing funding through donations, grants and/or corporate sponsorships.
- Efficient time management skills: ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to solve problems while also engaging and inspiring diverse stakeholders.
- Thrives in diverse, youthful, high energy, entrepreneurial, fast-changing environment.
- Roots in Chicago and a passion for driving positive change in our community.
- Experience working with youth or in education is a plus.

Starting Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000
