Five physician specialty practice, with primary location in Northern Virginia, seeks an experienced professional Medical Billing Specialist, who will be responsible for A/R follow-up. Experience with GE Centricity is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Follow-up daily on rejected billings, adjustments, and rebilling, and denied claims for accounts that are greater than 30 days old.
- Provides timely follow-up to resolve claims denials related to the prior authorization process and may include account review, claim review, appeal preparation and submission.
- Reports productivity results daily to the AR supervisor.
- Maintains standards per payer for percentage accounts >90 days.
- Works minimum standard number of accounts per payer per day.
- Meets or exceeds collection goals each month
- Research denied claims and contact payers for timely payment resolution
- Contacting insurance carriers regarding unpaid claims
- Writing appeal letters
- Basic Knowledge of ICD-10 required
- Follow necessary HIPAA regulations and policies on confidentiality
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum three years of experience in A/R follow-up
- Strong writing and verbal skills with the ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Experience providing patient financial counseling on benefits coverage, account status, and patient financial responsibility
- Experience with EMR, electronic billing system, and multiple insurance verification portals required
- Ability to multi-task
- Familiarity with human anatomy and medical terminology
- Ability to navigate and maneuver through multiple web sites
