Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Interventional Radiology (IR) team in Atlanta, GA. The Interventional Radiology RN will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, including angiography, embolization, biopsies, and catheter-based interventions. The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care in a dynamic procedural environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with interventional radiologists, radiologic technologists, and other healthcare providers to plan, prepare, and perform a variety of interventional radiology procedures, ensuring patient safety and procedural accuracy.
- Assess patients' pre-procedure health status, review medical history, and obtain informed consent, providing education and emotional support to alleviate anxiety and promote understanding of the procedure.
- Assist with procedural setup, including patient positioning, preparation of equipment and supplies, and implementation of sterile technique to maintain aseptic conditions.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, hemodynamic status, and level of consciousness throughout procedures, anticipating and promptly addressing any changes or complications.
- Administer conscious sedation and analgesia as prescribed, closely monitoring patients' responses and maintaining airway patency and cardiovascular stability.
- Perform specialized nursing interventions during procedures, such as contrast injection, specimen collection, hemostasis, and wound care, while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Provide thorough post-procedure care and monitoring, including assessment of puncture sites, vital signs, neurological status, and pain management, and initiate appropriate interventions as needed.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and comprehensively in electronic medical records, including procedural details, patient responses, medications administered, and post-procedure instructions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing education to enhance procedural skills, promote patient safety, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to staff members, providing guidance, education, and support related to interventional radiology procedures and patient care techniques.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Georgia.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in critical care, interventional radiology, or a related specialty area, with proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and critical care interventions.
- Certification in radiology nursing (CRN) or vascular access (VA-BC) preferred.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on patient population served.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making in high-stress situations.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, guidelines, and best practices related to interventional radiology procedures and patient safety.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced procedural environment and prioritize tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
