Animal Care Attendant

SJRAS is seeking dedicated and responsible individuals with basic knowledge/familiarity with animals. Must be able to work well and communicate effectively with the public, fellow employees, and volunteers in a fast-paced environment.
Job includes properly maintaining kennels/cages with thorough cleaning and sanitation protocols. Direct handling of animals (mainly dogs and cats) of all levels of socialization and health is required. Attendants also monitor animals daily and alert medical staff upon signs of illness or injury. Job will require attention to detail, physical activity, and regular lifting of items up to around 50lbs. Must be 18 years of age and able to work weekends and holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in an animal shelter, kennel, or related field preferred. Training is available for exceptional candidates.
Position often requires lifting and carrying materials up to 50 lbs.
Attention to detail, cleanliness, and protocols.
Individual must have the ability to handle fast-paced and evolving environments and tasks.
Basic knowledge of proper methods of animal restraint and animal behavior.
Ability to work well and communicate effectively with the public, fellow employees, and volunteers.
Problem solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people.
