Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facility Safety Officer to oversee the safety of our unclassified and classified facilities and ensure compliance with government safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety plans, programs, and policies to safeguard classified or proprietary materials, documents, hardware, and equipment
- Prepare detailed safety plans that outline regulatory requirements and establish clear procedures
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and identifying hazards
- Provide expert safety advice to top management and recommend corrective actions for any safety-related issues
- Maintain and update all safety-related documentation and records to ensure accuracy and accessibility
- Identify, assess, and monitor safety and environmental hazards, promoting initiatives to reduce or eliminate risks that could lead to accidents
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, such as natural disasters
- Coordinate all safety-related activities in alignment with U.S. Government directives to ensure regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DCMA, DoD (for example DoDM 4145.26, Ammunitions and Explosives Manual), and other relevant safety regulations
- Conduct Safety trainings and educational programs for employees to promote a culture of safety
- Supervise and ensure the implementation of all safety measures during test launches to guarantee safe operations
- Oversee the implementation of safety measures across all facilities to maintain high safety standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree (preferred)
- Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in safety operations, preferably in a military or government settings
- Familiarity with military safety policies, procedures, and practices (preferred)
- Experience with facility safety management, hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response planning
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards relevant to the Department of Defense facilities
- Willing and able to obtain and maintain secret/TS level security clearance
- Extensive knowledge of DoD 4145.26 directive
- Strong analytical skills to assess safety risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety information, conduct training, and collaborate with various stakeholders
- Leadership abilities to oversee safety programs, coordinate activities, and ensure compliance
- Attention to detail to conduct thorough safety inspections, investigations, and maintain accurate records
- Willingness and able to work extended hours and weekends as required
