Job purpose
This hands-on position is responsible for performing a variety of supply chain-oriented functions i.e. to lead and execute optimization projects, demand forecasting, reporting and analysis of supply chain-oriented data. Additionally, this position is the key focal point and supply chain representative for new product introductions, providing insight into supply chain requirements and planning with respect to new product launches. As such this position will program manage and ensure the timely launch of new products and other supply chain related programs.
Duties and responsibilities
- Create, analyze, and maintain relevant reports pertaining to data analytics.
- Programs manage and achieve required timelines for SC projects and new product introductions.
- Anticipate problems and build contingency plans as required to keep programs on schedule.
- Closely coordinate and communicate with external partners, vendors, laboratories to obtain the latest status on projects and action plans.
- Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.
- Use and maintain the Demand Planning software and tools as the primary forecasting system source.
- Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
- Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
- Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
- Support, document and manage product specification changes.
- Perform ad hoc analysis to evaluate and guide business strategy.
- Introduce new metrics and report on existing KPIs that highlight opportunities for improvements to supply chain performance.
- Anticipate, escalate, and act on Supply Chain issues that threaten business continuity.
- Create, document, and improve systems, tools, and procedures in the supply chain.
- Supports and manages special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have exceptional analytical skills, be a strong communicator and an effective collaborator with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Demonstrated proficiency in Program management and execution, supply chain engineering activities, statistics, and forecasting. Expert capability with Supply Chain software packages as well as Windows, and Microsoft Office Excel. Strong knowledge of SAP or other software related to demand planning is preferred.
This position requires strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and presentation skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process. Good facilitation skills are required.
Some specific capabilities include the following:
· Relevant Engineering degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
· Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-based recommendations that optimize processes.
· Demonstrated willingness to learn and work hard.
· Strong attention to detail and knows how to apply common sense to tasks and verification of output.
· Expert Microsoft Office skills
· Proficiency in SAP B1 (or a similar ERP system) preferred.
The Supply Chain Engineer / Program Manager will be an individual contributor with strong team-leading capabilities.
Working conditions
This is a full-time exempt status position. The hours of operation are from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with one hour given for lunch. This schedule may change according to business operation.
Physical requirements
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
