Summary:
This position requires a dynamic Social Studies Teacher with a focus on grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will possess strong classroom management skills, experience in lesson planning, and literacy education. Additionally, proficiency in communication and organizational skills is essential for effectively working with students. Premium skills such as curriculum development, mentoring, and journalism are highly valued. Candidates with a background in tutoring, instructional design, and research will excel in this role.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid teaching certification for middle and high school social studies
- Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for educating and mentoring students
Bachelor's Degree in Social Science Master's degree or Fl state certification preferred.
Teaching Assignment:
- Teaching class as assigned by the Principal in their areas of specialty throughout the school year. Full-Time Teachers will teach 5 or 6 classes with 1 planning period and a full lunch period
- School day for teachers is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Start date in early August and ending date in late May. One week Fall Break (Thanksgiving), three week Winter Break and one week Spring Break
- Facilitate and work with students through extracurricular activities to help encourage students to be the best 21st Century learners they can be.
- Maintain an environment with consistent discipline and mutual respect.
- Develop professional relationships with all students, peers and parents.
- Set an example for professionalism within and outside of the classroom environment.
- Maintain daily attendance during each class period.
- Maintain a current grade book for each class which must be updated at least twice weekly.
- Hold Teacher Help Sessions for 30 minutes daily from Monday - Thursday.
- Design and implement a mid-term or final exam at the end of each semester.
- Chaperone one of the trips during Experiential Learning Week annually.
- Follow all guidelines set forth in the Faculty Manual.
