Launched earlier in 2024, the Marketplace business aims to deliver rapid growth of relevant choices to customers through Nordstrom digital platforms. The Marketplace digital team exists to plan, prepare, run, and optimize the Marketplace business model at Nordstrom. We partner externally, with Marketplace sellers and technology partners, and internally across the organization to deliver a compelling customer and seller experience, rooted in Nordstroms purpose to help our customer feel good and look their best.
The Assistant Category Manager (ACM) of Marketplace sits within the Digital organization and is driving product sales and customer trips by supporting Marketplace sellers and sharing analytical insights with category managers. As a new team within digital, the first year will be focused on building strategy, operations, and processes to support growth for a successful future.
Marketplace at Nordstrom is a new business, and the right person for this role should have comfort for ambiguity, building anew, anticipating issues, and recognition that unknown challenges will arise and a desire to solve through short- and long-term solutions.
We are looking for someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves by diving into data, creating efficiencies in our day-to-day processes, and troubleshooting challenges that arise with sellers. You will work closely with Marketplace Category Managers, supporting the category strategies & deliverables with associated sellers. You will also partner with Marketplace Operations, Onboarding, and Brand Acquisition when working with sellers. The ACM will leverage industry insights, internal data reports to support launched sellers and enhance their category offerings available to customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support Marketplace category strategy through insights and seller support activities

Work closely with category managers and sellers to grow the business, maintain competitive selection and deliver a best-in-class customer experience.

Manage day-to-day relationships with selected sellers in assigned categories, prioritizing effectively to maximize business results and maintaining positive business relations.

Works closely with operations to troubleshoot seller issues as they arise. Escalating as needed.

Build reusable reports that drive insights across categories to achieve plans for selection, GMV, and customer trips.

Create and share opportunities for new and improved team processes, knowledge repositories, reports, and data analysis that can successfully scale to all categories and other teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent work experience required.

4+ years professional experience in a large matrixed organization

Proficiency with date-driven decision-making skills and technology systems required (Tableau, Excel)

Proven competency in strategic leadership, organizational agility, cross-team collaboration, drive for results, and written and verbal communications.

Prior experience in retail merchandising, business analysis, seller, or in digital merchandising

Comfortable with constant change, building and iterating processes regularly.

Managing priorities to effectively drive & improve category and sellers when everything is an opportunity.
