Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager/Cost Accountant is responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining effective internal controls. This role involves overseeing the preparation of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and providing financial insights to support decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Financial Management:
- Manage overall accounting functions, including banking and payroll.
- Maintain accurate records for building costs.
- Coordinate and manage insurance coverages and property taxes.
- Obtain and reconcile reports from outside entities and operations.
- Produce and maintain monthly financial statements.
Cost Accounting:
- Utilize classes and item cost items to track build projects.
- Transfer build costs to Co-Construct.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of all project costs.
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Set up and manage vendor accounts.
- Handle 1099 insurance and compliance.
- Conduct weekly check runs for vendor payments.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Manage invoicing and payment collections.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing processes.
Banking Duties:
- Implement Positive Pay to prevent fraud.
- Reconcile and report on bank accounts, credit cards, and loans.
- Track, protest, and ensure timely payment of property taxes.
- Manage and coordinate insurance coverages.
Payroll Duties:
- Enter bi-monthly payroll for 9-10 salaried employees.
- Process insurance, commissions, and bonuses accurately.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in accounting, financial management, and payroll.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and project tracking.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
