We are a busy Plastic Surgery Private Practice in San Francisco offering Gender Affirming procedures. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team and support our Registered Nurse (RN) with clinic responsibilities and patient care. The ideal candidate will possess excellent critical thinking skills, be able to provide exceptional nursing care, and be adept at patient condition monitoring. This role requires a strong commitment to direct patient care, and both group and individual instruction in an office setting.
Candidates must be committed to patient care and inclusivity, providing culturally competent and affirming support to all individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community. Will be able to guide patients through comprehensive pre-op and post-op care, ensure safety, comfort, and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize critical thinking to assess and address patient needs.
- Provide expert nursing consultation and patient condition monitoring.
- Adhere to infection control procedures and maintain a safe environment.
- Deliver direct patient care with compassion and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Conduct individual instruction sessions for patients and staff.
- Delegate tasks effectively and motivate team members.
- Modify treatment plans as necessary in coordination with the healthcare team.
- Coordinate care among various healthcare providers.
- Provide pre-op and post-op care for patients undergoing gender-affirming surgeries, including in-person appointments and phone consultations.
- Manage Electronic Medical Records (EMR) review, consults, post-op planning.
- Perform suture/bolster removal, packing removal, drain removal, and continuous patient assessment.
- Apply knowledge of plastic surgery cases, including microsurgery.
- Teach patients about post-operative care and procedures.
- Order supplies and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
- Manage individual patient cases and determine the next course of action for patient care under direct supervision of the RN.
- Maintain optimal supply levels in treatment rooms.
- Evaluate healthcare needs, treatment goals, and available resources to connect patients with the best providers and care options.
Qualifications:
- Current LPN license.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate and non-judgmental care.
- Experience in infection control procedures and direct patient care.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and medical documentation.
- Ability to lead, delegate, and motivate a healthcare team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with plastic surgery is recommended, but not required.
