POSITION SUMMARY
The Caregiver provides personal healthcare and related services to the client in their place of residence. Assists in providing a safe and clean environment, work cooperatively with patient and family, and share observations and problems with the supervisor. This position functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the staff Registered Nurse and the Nurse Manager and/or appropriate supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assisting clients to achieve maximum self-reliance.
- Reading and recording temperature, pulse and respiration.
- Recognizing emergencies and appropriate response in an emergency.
- Nutrition, fluid intake and meal preparation.
- Bathing and personal care techniques.
- Maintenance of skin integrity.
- Infection control.
- Transfers, ambulation, positioning and passive exercise.
- Assists with toileting of residents/patients.
- Procedures for maintaining a clean, safe and healthful environment.
- Reporting changes in client’s condition to appropriate supervisor.
- Emergency measures procedures.
- Provides assistance with self-administered medications.
- Documentation on appropriate records.
- Attends in-service as required by state and federal regulations.
- Client's rights including ethics and confidentiality of care.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: High School Diploma preferred or the equivalent required.
- Licensure: Current Nurse's Aide Certification in the State of Texas for CNA position. Caregiver position certification not required.
- Experience: Preferably at least one (1) year experience as a Home Health Aide or Nursing Assistant in a hospital, nursing home or home health agency.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation required for an extensive geographic area. Ability to provide valid and current auto liability insurance if applicable.
