To achieve our mission, we provide a wide range of programs for low- and moderate-income residents, including our Community Care for Kids (CCK) program. CCK is a childcare resource and referral program that consists of a variety of services designed to help families make educated childcare choices, improve the affordability of childcare for income eligible families, and increase the quality and availability of childcare services.
We are looking for a mission driven, creative Child & Family Engagement Specialist with experience in early education and care, family services programs, or related field. The position reports directly to the Program Director of CCK. The Specialist is primarily responsible for providing information, referrals, and family services funded by the Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) and the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) Grant. Responsibilities include:
- Family Programming: Creative development of virtual and live family support programs such as parent/child playgroups, family events and literacy activities, and newsletters and website.
- Direct Services: Provide timely public and corporate information and referral services, including individual counseling with callers, consultation and consumer education with families on resources and available services, and completion of intake process for all clients.
- CFCE Programs: Maintain thorough knowledge of programs funded through the CFCE grant, assist with grant writing, and monitor contract compliance of subcontractors and consultants.
- Community Outreach: Outreach within the community to educate families about the CFCE programs available.
- CFCE Council Meetings: Participate in planning CFCE council meetings. Ensure meetings occur on a regular basis and that the council is actively involved in programs and policy issues. Report to the councils on development of early childhood programs and policy.
- Local Meetings: Represent CCK at local meetings in CCK’s service delivery area. Represent the program in the local childcare community.
- Budget and Grant Applications: Assist the Program Director in preparing budget and grant application submissions and EEC amendments.
- Knowledge of Trends and Innovations: Maintain active interest and participate in professional field at all levels. Analyze trends and innovations in specific program areas and integrate them into program services as appropriate.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in early education and care, family services program, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Excellent people skills, including demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse constituencies, maintain community partnerships, and work collaboratively with community members.
- Demonstrate commitment to working on behalf of families with young children of all backgrounds and income levels.
- Excellent computer skills (spreadsheet, word processing, data base management programs)
