Weingart Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency headquartered in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness, is hiring for a Resident Services Coordinator.
Under the supervision of the Program Manager and/or Director of Permanent Supportive Housing, the primary function of Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) is to welcome, register, orient and provide wraparound services for residents of the Weingart Center's Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Program. The RSC will be responsible for assessing resident needs, developing and/or identifying programming to meet those needs, making resource information available to residents, and providing linkages to needed services to residents living under the program. The RSC will provide services as needed to program administrative staff in an efficient, accurate, friendly and consistent manner, will prepare and maintain registration records, receives, directs and handles phone calls and messages in the absence of the telephone operator, and prepares and maintains program and log entries.
This is an on-site, in office position, working a 40-hour shift, Monday to Friday.
Weingart Center no longer requires (though highly recommends) position incumbent to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the CDC and the Department of Health Services of Los Angeles County effective August 4, 2023. However, the mandate may be reinstated at any time as recommended by these two governing agencies.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR:
- You are experienced in working with diverse cultures and specific populations (such as seniors, people with developmental disabilities or chronic mental illness, veterans, or people with HIV/AIDS).
- You are experienced conducting community assessments, applying the principals of conflict management and/or de-escalation techniques, and organizing community groups, events, and programs.
- You have knowledge of services available in Los Angeles County and understanding of procedures and eligibility for Federal and State entitlement programs and legal liability issues related to service coordination.
- You have a strong ability to develop effective working partnerships with various types of community groups and institutions.
- You demonstrate a commitment to recognizing residents’ knowledge and experience as a valuable resource.
- You can motivate individuals to actively participate in services.
- You have a strong ability to effectively facilitate meetings and community gatherings.
- You are experience ICMS (CHAMP) case management database systems.
- You are proficient with MS Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- You have a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- You have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field, preferred; or have least a High School Diploma plus a minimum two (2) years’ relevant experience in homelessness services, low-income social services or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Crisis and mental health experience preferred.
- Experience working with veteran populations a plus.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
Salary starts at $22.00 per hour, commensurate upon combined, related experience, educational level and bilingual fluency.
