Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Moderate Sedation for our Operating Room department in Rochester, NY. As a crucial member of our healthcare team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients undergoing procedures requiring moderate sedation. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining high standards of care and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct thorough pre-procedure assessments to evaluate patients' medical history, current health status, and suitability for moderate sedation. Monitor patients closely during procedures to assess sedation depth, vital signs, and overall well-being.
- Administration of Sedation: Administer and titrate medications for moderate sedation under the direction of the anesthesia provider or physician, ensuring adherence to established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the sedation process. Address any patient concerns or discomfort promptly and effectively.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless coordination of care during procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards and departmental policies.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies or adverse events related to sedation, implementing appropriate interventions and notifying appropriate personnel as necessary.
- Patient Education: Provide education to patients and their families regarding the sedation process, potential risks, and post-procedure care instructions.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New York.
- Certification in Moderate Sedation (e.g., CPAN, CAPA) preferred.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience in perioperative nursing, with specific experience in moderate sedation highly desirable.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
