Looking for an Equine Sports Medicine Veterinarian
Position Summary:
The Sports Medicine Veterinarian is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing and treating high performing equine athletes on a daily basis. Successful Veterinarians in this position are enhancing equine patients performance abilities to reach their peak potential and creating rehabilitation plans to set up our athletes for success.
About Performance Equine Veterinary Services:
We work with horse and canine athletes of all disciplines, to service their sports medicine and rehabilitation needs of our patients. We are located on a beautiful 23 acre facility in Ocala, Florida. We are transparent, disciplined, accountable, aligned, results-oriented, and inspirational.
Veterinarian Duties
- Develop diagnostic and treatment plans for all musculoskeletal-related injuries that our patients face.
- Help to handle the general medicine cases that are attended at our practice or refer to another veterinarian in the practice.
- Provide excellent customer service to our clients by answering all their questions and concerns regarding their patients within 24 hours or less.
- Do follow up calls with all patients
- Collaborate with the administrative personnel in order to book the sc
- schedule efficiently so that production targets are met on time and achieve a healthy work-life balance.
- Monitor your own production and submit purchase orders for commission payments on time.
- Monitor mileage accurately so that purchase orders for mileage payments can be expedited.
- Complete business management training in order to have a thorough understanding of the overall business model
- Keep up to date on job knowledge by remaining aware of new
- regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional regulations.
- Participating in journal club on a weekly basis
- Be a mentor to interns and students
- Represent the company at events such as horse shows, horse races, and charity events.
Competencies Needed for the Job
- Solid Knowledge in a lameness evaluation
- Experienced and Efficient Musculoskeletal Diagnostician
- Efficient and Confident with joint injections
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets via Google Suite and Microsoft
- Strong communication skills between clients and executive staff
Education
- DVM, VMD or compatible degree validated in United Stated
- Minimum 5 years experience in private practice or academia
- Sports Medicine Boarded is a plus but not required
- ISELP certification is a plus but not required. The company will pay for courses.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of working with horses are expected
- This position might require travel to horse shows or horse sales
- Should be able to work 40 hours a week and occasionally more
Compensation:
- Starting base salary between $115,000 to $125,000 per year, plus a production bonus. The qualifying candidate should earn close to $30,000 in bonuses.
Schedule:
- Flexibility with alternating schedule throughout the week in fast paced environment
- Hours of operation- 7:30am to 4:30pm (Monday – Friday) with Saturday availability
