Medical Billing Specialist Job Description
- Must have ample experience with commercial insurances, Medicare, PPO, HMO, Workers Compensation, No-Fault carriers and their guidelines.
- Research claim denials and completes adjustments accurately and timely.
- Accurately record payments and adjustments received via ERA (electronic remittance advice) and office mail.
- Run electronic deposit reports and process payments, adjustments and rejections. Provide reconciliation/balancing of same.
- Post rejections by insurance companies.
- Manage daily payment transaction registers from site.
- Verifies that payments received are correct.
- Follows up on reimbursement and appeals in an efficient and timely manner.
- Efficiently utilizes all functions of the client's software applications, including maintaining accurate and detailed charts and notes.
- Clearly, accurately and concisely document notes in medical software system per company guidelines
- Effectively identify and communicate to supervisor when assistance is needed.
- Observes legal and ethical guidelines of HIPAA for safeguarding patient and company confidential and proprietary information.
- Consistently provides exceptional customer service.
- Understands and achieves team and individual goals as determined by supervisors.
- Promotes company culture by adhering to all policies and procedures.
- Welcomes constructive feedback and makes every effort to improve when required to help meet company goals.
Qualifications
- Medical Billing Experience required
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three plus (3+) years of experience in medical billing with a billing company or healthcare facility preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and procedural modifiers
- Orthopedic billing experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, over the telephone, and in-person.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent time management skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
