LPN / Medical Assistant / STNA / Pre-Certification Specialist – Full Time
Job description
This position will be in Medina 4 days a week and Ontario (Mansfield) 1 day per week and once every other week in Avon. Candidate must be willing to travel to all locations.
To help handle our explosive growth, we are seeking a full time LPN/MA to help with pre-certification. We are a single-physician a healthcare practice, specializing in vein procedures.
The LPN/MA/STNA duties may include:
- Gather History and Physical information from the patient
- Assist Physician in exam of patient
- Document chart information into our Electronic Health Records system, following meaningful use guidelines
- Communicate to the scheduling department what additional procedures and follow up visits are needed, per Physician's orders
- As necessary, apply Unna Boot wrap, a special gauze bandage, which is used for the treatment venous insufficiencies of the leg
- Help keep inventory of medical supplies, as needed
The Pre-Certification Specialist is responsible for the completion of pre-certification, prior authorization and notification to all payers for all pre-scheduled elective inpatient/outpatient procedures and diagnostic testing. He/she is responsible for communicating with insurance companies to ensure the pre-certifications are obtained accurately and timely. He/she must demonstrate customer focus, while providing pre-certification evaluation of each scheduled inpatient or outpatient patient case. He/she must comprehend the clinical aspect of the chart and how to apply it to ensure authorization meets guidelines for approval.

- Coordinates, schedules, and completes Peer-to-Peer and Appeal reviews.
- Documents all communication with insurance companies, third party payers, and agency staff.
- Provides back-up support for front desk specialist; including checking in/out patients, scheduling, insurance eligibility verification.
