Join our team at the Crime Analysis and Research Unit of the Phoenix Police Department as a Uniform Crime Reporting Coding Specialist! We are currently looking to fill a critical vacancy, and we believe you could be the perfect fit. As a Uniform Crime Reporting Coding Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our unit, reading, collecting, interpreting, and auditing crime-related information from incident and arrest reports. Your expertise in encoding information based on Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) standards will be invaluable in ensuring accurate and consistent data analysis.
Collaboration is key in our unit, and you will have the opportunity to work closely with our team members to identify crime trends and patterns through quality assurance review of crime reports. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to effectively address and respond to emerging crime issues in our community. Moreover, your knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes, Uniform Crime Reporting Summary Reporting standards, National Incident-Based Reporting criteria, and police terminology will be essential assets in your day-to-day responsibilities.
Duties include:
- Reading police crime reports and determining the appropriate federal offense category.
- Collecting and encoding data.
- Sorting and entering codes into various computer databases.
- Performing related clerical tasks with specific attention to detail.
- Working in the Records Management System (RMS) Data Quality Detail as part of the Strategic Information Bureau.
The current work schedule is Monday thru Friday, day shift hours (6:30 AM - 4:30 PM), with options of either 4/10's or 5/8's. Shift work, including night shift, holidays and weekends may be required in the future based on potential work process changes and departmental needs. Schedules are assigned based on seniority and a bid process.
