JOB DESCRIPTION
Field Service & Test Technician/Engineer
Summary/Objective
The Field Service & Test Technician/Engineer position tests furnaces using an approved test procedure based on customer specifications and AVS design parameters, and also travels to the customer site (domestic and international) to perform final acceptance testing, or repairs and updates to existing furnaces
Essential Functions

- Full electro-mechanical equipment testing and validation prior to shipment to customer of complex electro-mechanical assemblies with electronic controls.
- Performs, at customer locations (domestic and international), the repair, installation, and placing in service of specialized company products.
- Troubleshoots customer problems and implements repairs.
- Install, service, repair and maintain company’s equipment and systems at the customer’s site.
- Troubleshoot, identify root causes, and solve operational issues surrounding company’s machinery at customer locations.
- Train personnel on proper setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of company’s systems.
- Perform extensive mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC/HMI program modifications.
- Leak testing of vacuum and pressure systems, and perform corrective actions.
- Customer training at AVS and customer’s site for system operations, troubleshooting, and buy-off.
- Work independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals on a set schedule and with quality workmanship.
- Fully document, debug, start-up, Service and installation actions by completing forms, daily reports, logs, records & submit to the team.
- Maintains good rapport with AVS personnel and customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; recommending system improvements.
- Up to 50% travel (domestic and international).
- Work varying shift pattern as required to complete the company objectives for in-house testing, start-up and installations.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Overtime will be available on an as needed basis.
Travel
This position requires the candidate be willing and able to travel within the USA and Internationally. Travel will account for approximately 50% of your working time.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Electro-Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills
- Equipment Maintenance
- PLC Programming and troubleshooting a must
- Comprehension of Blueprint and single line diagrams, wiring/mechanical schematics and drawings
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well with lap-top computer
- Knowledge of HMI SCADA systems a plus
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, fluids flow, ladder logic a plus
Preferred Education and Experience
- Mechanical/Electrical Degree, or a minimum of 5 years field service experience on complex electro-mechanical devices.
- Experience working with vacuum / pressure vessels.
- Experience working with a variety of voltages from low volt DC to high volt AC (single and multi-phase).
- Experience programming and troubleshooting with various PLC’S and HMI SCADA systems
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be authorized to work within the USA
