Sandy Hook Promise Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization committed to protecting all children from gun violence in schools, homes, and communities. The SHP Action Fund champions a holistic policy platform that promotes gun safety, youth mental health, and violence prevention education. The organization works at the state and federal level to pass nonpartisan legislation through inclusive partnerships, diverse grassroots education, and community mobilization. It is part of Sandy Hook Promise Foundation, founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

Position Summary:
The Senior Associate, Advocacy will support the growth and development of our grassroots volunteer network through training and leadership development. They will assist in the creation and delivery of advocacy curriculum and work directly with supporters to deepen their engagement and impact in SHP’s mission. This position is full-time and remote. The person reports to the Director, Advocacy and will have the following responsibilities, with additional duties as assigned:
Job Responsibilities:-
Support the design, development, and implementation an evidence-based learning and training journey to enhance volunteer engagement and leadership skills and advance core initiatives

Draft training materials, such as toolkits, fact sheets, and event materials for delivery in multiple modes and platforms

Facilitate training sessions and workshops to develop the organizing skills of volunteers and supporters

Work with Organizing Managers to maintain and coordinate an annual supporter engagement calendar across all regions

Host, manage, and recruit for both virtual and in-person events, including informational sessions and large-scale trainings

Monitor and report on the progress of training activities, including tracking participation and evaluating impact

Travel 20-30% for in-person supporter trainings and events
Qualifications:-
Experience in volunteer management, public engagement, organizing, or similar field

Strong writing skills, with the ability to craft compelling and concise messages
- Passion for meeting new people and engaging people in community change
- Experienced speaker with ability to host informational and training sessions for varied audience sizes and demographics
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to Sandy Hook Promise’s mission and goals
- Demonstrated commitment to integrating race, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles
Benefits and Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $54,000-$64,000. (
SHP follows a strict internal rubric to help guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay amongst new hires and current staff. New hires should expect to be brought on at the start of the range, except in extenuating circumstances.)

Our organization operates within a distributed workforce, allowing for location flexibility across the country for most positions. We provide remote office support for all staff, which includes a laptop, home office reimbursement, monthly wifi reimbursement up to $40 and monthly cell phone reimbursement up to $50.
