Primary Function
- Utilize effective material planning execution for the Santa Ana, CA site in all packaging categories.
- Recommend and execute commodity spend for flexible film, jugs, folding cartons, corrugated materials, and other ancillary packaging items as needed.
- Participate in and make recommendations for the optimal supply strategy for packaging.
Overall Responsibilities
- Manage packaging spend for the Santa Ana, CA site working collaboratively with the Materials Manager in York on common materials to both locations.
- Strategic planning of packaging components through floor stock agreements were beneficial.
- Execute Request for Quotes (RFQ’s) when directed for local sources of supply using customary means.
- Project management (e.g. Interdepartmental initiatives on cost savings and quality management).
- Back-up to Raw Materials Manager.
- Participate in and provide direction on new items set-up for all site-specific packaging working collaboratively with the Materials Manager for York, PA on common materials and/or common suppliers.
Knowledge & Competencies
- Packaging awareness and knowledge base – knowledge of flexible and rigid packaging performance to include understanding of the artwork approval process and general familiarity of engineering in the field.
- Business Systems expertise - knowledge of integrated ERP systems understanding systemic relationships of forecasting, demand planning, MPS, MRP, Purchasing and Inventory Control.
- ·Leadership– ability to lead and manage team/s to defined and expected outcomes.
- Negotiator – ability to act as a ‘deal developer’ providing catalyst to development of a least cost supply chain.
- Project Management - Establishing project goals and milestones, developing procedures and systems, defining roles and responsibilities, identifies and implements project resources, leads project coordination, monitors, and measures project performance, manages multiple projects.
