PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- LEADERSHIP:
- Lead dental clinician at BHC - demonstrates being well informed about oral health care and community health centers.
- Leads the dental component of the BHC in adapting to changes in the health care environment and marketplace.
- QUALITY:
- Maintains and enhances the highest standards of health care delivery to all BHC patients.
- Ensures that all health care services are provided in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
- Oversees, monitors, and updates the BHC’s dental policies and procedures, including the scope of service as defined under the Section 330 HRSA applications and under FTCA coverage.
- Assists in the development of data, statistics and performance outcomes and measures, and compliance reporting.
- Reviews relevant patient complaints and satisfaction surveys and responds when necessary.
- Supervises the development, implementation, and operation of a quality assurance program as it relates to patient care and may delegate it to other dental staff.
- Presents reports on health and quality improvement matters at the BHC Quality Improvement – Risk Management Committee regularly and periodically, as determined by the CMO.
- RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION:
- Recruits and interviews all potential dentists, may delegate recruiting and interviewing to other staff, prepares recommendations for hiring and firing for the review and approval of the CMO.
- Maximizes the retention of providers including work performance standards, quality of life, workload and equity.
· Develops collaborative team of dental employees.
· Arranges and conducts regular meetings of clinicians.
· Ensures dental staff coverage at all times.
· Maintains advice and consent functions regarding the responsibilities and privileges of administrative personnel supervising ancillary (e.g. laboratory, x-ray, Pharmacy) services.
· Recommends and participates in the final determination of disciplinary actions and terminations of clinicians.
· Responsible for the recruitment, supervision, credentialing and evaluations for all dentists to include students and volunteers as well as all other dental staff.
· Designs, develops, and implements appropriate Dental Department policies, protocols and procedures which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards.
· Performs periodic evaluations of dental department personnel.
· As directed by the CMO, performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
· Works a clinical schedule that may include evening and/or weekend hours consistent with the BHC hours of operation.
· Answers questions regarding cases and acts as a resource for clinicians.
· Examines individuals requesting care, diagnose their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers to individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
· Educates individuals in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.
· Assists in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of community health center staff as requested.
· Participates in the strategic planning for the BHC.
· Participates in development of the BHC’s financial plan (budget), with ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
· Participates in the development of clinical activities budget, including staffing and support plan, and equipment needs projection.
· Travels when necessary to fulfill BHC needs and address needs as necessary to represent the organization and the dental department.
· Advise on information system’s needs.
· Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as requested.
· Participates in periodic management review by CMO.
· Advocates for the BHC and serves as liaison to (including active membership in) local and state professional societies.
· Participates in ad hoc committees as needed.

Received: Works under the direct supervision of the CMO.
Exercised: Responsible for supervision of all dental staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $170,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
