The engineer in this role will create, draft, and design products and schemes using internal or external provided specifications and Industrial Design direction. This individual designs metal and plastic components for tooling, cabling, thermal and other integral mecho-electro components, selects and sources components for mechanical and mecho-electro implementation.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical Knowledge/Implementation: Using mechanical knowledge of materials, manufacturing, and tooling to create cohesive, intelligent designs for professional AVC products that are manufacturable (DFM) and meet the Product Requirements.
- Project Planning/ Stage Gate: Participate in development of feasibility BOMs, tooling budget, schedule, etc.
- ME/EE Coordination: Ability to find solutions that satisfy both electrical and mechanical limitations and requirements.
- Component Selection & Alternates: Proficiency at sourcing appropriate parts, components and accessories for the project that are affordable, reliable, available, and sustainable for the life of the project.
- CAD Library Development: Own the maintenance and creation of organized, usable, searchable file systems of all mechanical drawings.
- ARENA Library Development: Contribute to the maintenance and creation of consistent BOM's and components with consistent and proper naming, sourcing, datasheets, and files.
- ECO Execution and Follow up (in Arena): Contribute to creating properly formatted ECO's for file releases and closing/completing in a timely manner.
- Project Documentation: Contribute to the creation of accurate and timely Diagrams, Exploded Drawings, Assembly Instructions and the like.
- Creation of Prototypes: Own the operation and maintenance of 3D Printer; creating 3D printed and tooled samples and driving adjustments where necessary.
- Vendor Management: Contribute to/own the managing and communicating with contractors, vendors and suppliers for quotes, tools and component specifications.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ years’ experience in development of consumer or commercial electronics enclosures
- 4+ years’ experience designing mechanical systems
- A deep understanding of SolidWorks/CAD
- Experience designing, implementing, manufacturing, and shipping products
- Experience researching and validating new technologies to meet requirements, maximize innovations, and minimize cost and time to market
- Experience bringing up new hardware designs
- Ability to work autonomously on your part of the project while keeping teammates, collaborators and dependents apprised and up to date
- Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
- Exceptional English speaking and writing skills

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
