POSITION SUMMARY: The PEP Team Registered Nurse gathers medical history, surgical history, medications and other pertinent patient information to ensure a safe and successful anesthesia experience for the patient. They are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing anesthesia care to patients. Works under the supervision of the Anesthesia Director, Medical Director and Administrator to facilitate the exchange of appropriate medical information to assure the safe and effective administration of anesthesia by the Anesthesia Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform phone interview with patients to obtain any and all medical information required to complete a comprehensive assessment for anesthesiologist review and approval
- Document given health history completely, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Determine necessary pre-anesthesia testing, need-based on guidelines and patient history
- Conduct and/or arrange appropriate investigations with specialty medical offices as needed
- Provide appropriate information and education for patients on the proposed anesthesia, to include NPO guidelines and medication instructions
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with anesthesiologists, affiliated ASC’s and surgeon office
- Responsible for working independently as well as functioning within a team to coordinate daily workload
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues within the company
- Support and facilitate practices to ensure a smooth/timely perioperative course
- Flexibility and the ability to handle stressful situations as they may arise
- Act as a clinical source for other staff members
REQUIREMENTS:
- RN License
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience in conducting Pre-Anesthesia patient calls for outpatient surgery center preferred
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Strong human relations, customer service, time management, organization and team building skills
- Demonstrate a sound problem solving approach to day-to-day issues as they occur
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance
