POSITION SUMMARY:
The General Manager is responsible for the financial and operating performance of SMP SFM, LLC. The objectives for this position include:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Directly aligns with the Sand Mountain Park Mission Statement and Core Values
- Provide tactical leadership and oversight of the Food & Beverage, Marketing/Sponsorship, Entertainment & Events, Finance, and Human Resources Teams

Constant focus on continuous improvement across all departments
- Ensure the property is guest-ready according to our operational standards daily
- Coordinate the development and implementation of budgetary control systems, recordkeeping systems, and other administrative control processes

Direct and coordinate an organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations, manage labor cost, maximize performance, and increase efficiency

Final decision maker on all key personnel decisions and strategic initiatives
- Direct, plan and implement all policies and procedures to ensure maximum productivity and operational performance

Lead productive and structured weekly/monthly planning meetings that set the Team up for success and establish open lines of communication on a consistent basis
- Implement corrective action plans to solve organizational or departmental problems

Ensure all financial reporting, purchasing procedures, cash handling procedures, and inventory management systems are all compliant and efficient
- Prepare and present month-end financial reporting, quarterly City Council updates, and additional park related information/updates as needed
- Serve as the park ambassador to represent and promote its objectives at official functions, community events, and with other key stakeholders as our client/SFC sees fit
- Serve as the park liaison between city organizations, local/regional stakeholders, and Sports Facilities Companies home office
- Administer programs for selection of any site location, potential construction needs, and provision of equipment and supplies

Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments concerned with production, pricing, sales, and/or distribution of products

Negotiate and/or approve contracts and agreements with vendors, tournament rights-holders, artist managers, sponsors, and more, always having the park's best interest as top priority

Manage the parkwide budget monthly, and implement operational adjustments based on financial performance throughout each fiscal year
- Prepare the annual park budget and help lead the budget approval process with our client
- Review reports submitted by team members to recommend approval or to suggest changes

Schedule and monitor continued training seminar for staff on various operational, safety, and legal responsibilities

Establish and cultivate a one-team mindset and extremely strong partnership with our client that has open lines of communication and aligned expectations
- Any additional duties assigned by the VP of Venue Management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor's degree in business management, sports management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
-
Prior responsibility in daily P&L management and budget oversight responsibility of $4M or greater

Proven experience in organizing, booking, and executing basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, swimming, cheer, soccer, flag football, tackle football, 7 v 7 football, and volleyball sports tournaments/events
- Proven experience in organizing, booking, and executing small/medium size concerts and non-sport events

Proven experience in leading successful Food & Beverage departments/operations at a high-volume scale
- Strong background in Human Resources compliance and building an effective work environment/culture for large teams
- Experience working with convention & visitors bureaus, regional sports commissions, concert talent buyers/promoters, and/or tournament/event rights-holders
- Operational proficiency in the areas of risk management and insurance policy/workers compensation compliance

Proficient in business development practices and strategies
- Sports programming planning and execution expertise required

A minimum of 7 years of extensive management experience
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel required 2-3 times per year
