The Purchasing Clerk maintains the overall ordering, receiving, stocking and distribution duties of the General Stores areas
- Maintains knowledge of hospital supplies. Demonstrates necessary knowledge to efficiently and effectively perform tasks associated with the position.
- Receives all incoming supply and equipment items per accepted Accounting and Materials Management procedures. Ensures appropriate documentation and authorized signatures on all requests. Escalates issues as needed and in a timely manner.
- Interacts with the department manager and other hospital personnel. Responds to inquiries/questions accurately and in a timely manner. Handles all telephone requests with courtesy, accuracy and confidentially.
- Effectively uses all applicable computer and office systems/procedures to coordinate documentation, data, and information to ensure timely communication and smooth operations. Performs data entry in a timely and accurate manner. Maintains accurate filing systems and completes filing in timely manner. Ensures the work area is clean, clutter free, and organized.
- Stocks supplies within the General Stores area in pre-determined locations ensuring organization, control and safety. Operates Department equipment safely, i.e. photocopier, dolly, pallet jack, etc.
- Fills authorized requisitions for departments as well as delivers direct shipments to user departments. Places warehouse orders in a timely manner. Works with the department manager on inventory cycle counts, Match Exceptions and Open orders.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year previous experience working in a warehouse/purchasing clerk role
- Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment for all hospital specialties
- Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
- Computer literacy and proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge in Inventory Control functions
Pay Rate: Min - $18.50 | Max - $18.50
