Job Description:
This role will support the collaborative of independent designers Nationwide, working full-time in the Loveland and Denver CO. We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Senior Structural Forensics Engineer to lead our investigations into complex structural failures and provide expert insights. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a critical role in identifying the root causes of structural issues and formulating comprehensive recommendations for repair and remediation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Forensic Investigations:
- Lead and conduct detailed investigations of structural failures, assessing the condition of buildings, bridges, and other structures.
- Employ advanced analytical techniques, including non-destructive testing, to identify and analyze structural deficiencies.
2. Documentation and Analysis:
- Create detailed reports outlining investigation findings, including the causes of failures, extent of damage, and recommended repair strategies.
- Utilize advanced engineering software and tools to model and analyze structural behavior.
3. Expert Testimony:
- Serve as an expert witness in legal proceedings, providing clear, concise, and authoritative testimony on structural assessments and forensic findings.
4. Project Management:
- Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technicians, and external experts, to ensure efficient project execution.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
5. Client Communication:
- Communicate technical findings to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities in a clear and understandable manner.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations for structural repairs and improvements.
6. Research and Development:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering and forensic investigations.
- Contribute to the development of innovative methodologies and tools for structural assessments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Advanced degree (Masters, PhD) is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on forensic investigations.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Structural Engineer (SE) license is preferred.
- Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, RISA), as well as proficiency in CAD and other relevant engineering tools.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
