Private Oncology & Hematology Practice in Milford, CT seeking for a full time Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our team/family. The ideal candidate is required to have a minimum of 3 years venipuncture experience on patients of all ages that have various medical conditions, has attention to detail, can multitask, can work as a team player and be independent. Requirements:
At least 1 year of medical assistant experience
At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience are required, no exceptions
Strong administrative and clinical skills
Must be professional and know how to effectively communicate
Excellent people skills and work ethic
Must be able to perform and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and critical thinking required
Must be passionate about health and patient care
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Medical Assistant Diploma or extensive on-the-job training
Diploma in Phlebotomy or extensive on-the-job training
Responsibilities:
Record patient data including but not limited to vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medications, and any changes to medications
Escort patients to and from exam room, laboratory, and/or treatment room as needed
Ensure lab results, radiology reports, and consultation notes are in the patient's electronic chart
Assist physician with bone marrow biopsy procedure
Maintain room cleanliness/sanitization throughout the day and before closing and ensure exam rooms are stocked
Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment
Labels, processes, and sends specimens for testing.
Ensure lab results are in the patients electronic chart
Maintain draw station and lab cleanliness/sanitization throughout the day and before closing and ensure laboratory is stocked
Must be eager to learn all aspects of position including lab orders/result, learning Quest 360, ordering supplies, and troubleshooting the CBC analyzer
Candidates main function will include running CBC’s and the operation and maintenance of the CBC analyzer
Work with other clinical and office staff to ensure a smooth patient flow and positive patient experience
Assist with front office duties such as greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments and other assigned duties
