About the role
The Test Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for working with the test and discipline engineers in coordinating the design and creation of the instrumentation and test data management fixtures and systems for all magniX testing. They will work closely internally with our design engineering, manufacturing, and certification teams, as well as externally with DERs and the FAA to ensure tests are conducted to obtain the highest quality data efficiently and safely.
Primary Responsibilities

Design, creation, and management of magniX systems to manage internal test data

Design, creation, and management of magniX test facility control and data recording software

Design, creation, and management of magniX test instrumentation systems and installations
-
Work closely with the design, test integration, and certification engineers as they create the test plans required by the verification test program

Work closely with the design, test integration, and certification engineers as they create the engineering definition for the required test articles
-
Work closely with the test integration and test operations engineers as they create the required test facilities
-
Coordinate the creation of instrumentation definitions and applicable design data required to gather the data in each test plan, test article, and test facility

Coordinate the manufacture and installation of the instrumentation required for each test plan, test article, and test facility
-
Design, creation, and management of magniX instrumentation controls such as calibrations, checkouts, filtering, etc.

Work closely with the program management organization to track the progress of the test program.

Coordinate with FAA DERs to ensure all instrumentation used in compliance tests provide data that adequately and properly show compliance to the regulations which compel them

Apply technical expertise, leadership skills, and program management expertise, with a commitment to quality and safety.

Provide input and feedback for improvement for company processes that directly affect this function.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Software, or Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.

Must have 5+ years’ experience in a development or test technical role, leadership experience desired

Must have 3+ years of instrumentation or data acquisition system design experience

Experience of test of Aerospace Gas Turbine or Piston Engines desired

Demonstrated ability to lead and empower team members.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex product development environment with multiple changing priorities.

Understanding of propulsion system development, validation and verification, and FAA certification.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

Team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

This position's approximate base salary range is $125,000 - $138,000 per year, depending on years of experience and level of education.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. Under §120.15, a “U.S. Person” includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees. As this position requires access to export-controlled data, an appropriate export authorization by the U.S. Government may be required prior to such access.
