Job Overview:
Codemoji is looking for a teacher to bring coding enrichment to elementary school students. Codemoji provides a coding curriculum for students seeking to expand their coding knowledge. We teach coding in person using our online platform and unplugged activities.
Codemoji provides all the materials and lesson plans for you to utilize, no previous coding knowledge is necessary.
Our ideal candidates are educators with classroom experience, who understand best practices, relationship building with students and parents, and the importance of timeliness. In this position, we ask that the instructor have access to a laptop to bring to each program session, as much of our curriculum is digital. Students will each have their own computers as well. Confidence in fluently navigating Google and the ability to troubleshoot items such as connecting to wifi are necessary.
Class Times:
Our after-school classes run on weekdays during the fall, winter, and spring sessions at schools. The days of the week and specific time slots vary each season, but details will be available before the start of the program.
As a Codemoji Instructor, you will be responsible for:
- Showing up before each program time and staying until all students are picked up or school protocols are met.
- Passing a background check.
- Reading over lesson plans, testing the provided robots, and reviewing lesson slides before each program session.
- Our curriculum designer will be available upon request for questions regarding implementing lesson plans and will provide onboarding and training before your first program session.
- Providing a safe and fun space for students in which you are building positive relationships with the school community.
You will need to be cleared by HR- this requires background checks.
Skills:
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Knowledge of childhood development principles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Familiarity with theater, sports coaching, or special education is a plus
- Proficiency in Christian counseling or tutoring would be advantageous
