Job Overview
The primary function of the Customer Service and Logistics Representative (CSL) is coordinating customer freight solutions while maximizing productivity and profitability. The CSL is responsible for a high volume of customer interactions, including prospecting and cold-calling potential new customers, contract and pricing agreements and overall account management. In addition, the Customer Service and Logistics position interfaces cross-levels of the organization to move customer freight by using the optimum of both Asset-Based resources (SBI driver and trucks) and third-party carriers.
Responsibilities and Duties
Customer Service:
- Work closely with assigned primary customers to determine freight needs on daily/weekly basis
- Advise customers of both Asset-based and third-party carriers availability, based on geographical locations, equipment capabilities and driver specific needs
- Track order status through entire process, until completion, and update customer for concerns and expectations
- Troubleshoot errors, and address customer concerns, providing timely feedback, to increase customer satisfaction and retention, and to reduce potential business loss
- Negotiate freight pricing based on geographic specifics, equipment requirements and company profitability expectations
- Generate new customers, aligning with Sales Team revenue targets and equipment capabilities
Data Processing/Programs and Tools
- Enter all relevant load information into AS400 operating system, including all accurate and necessary information needed to safely and successfully complete customer shipping needs
- Utilize customer relationship software for communication and distribution of customer interactions, sales prospects, revenue risks and opportunities
Maximize Productivity and Profitability
- Track key customer performance indicators (KPI) and their contributions Sherman Brothers business goals. These indicators include, but not limited to, revenue per loaded mile, revenue per day, deadhead reductions, driver hour of service issues, and projected profitability
- Interface with Fleet Managers, Driver Managers, Director of Sales and entire Sales team to ensure resources are effectively integrated into planning activities with the focus on generating maximum gross revenue and increased business success

Education and Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Customer service or logistics experience preferred

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
